JRP is a product series of rice developed to deliver the power and healing hidden in rice, which is an ancient Japanese food culture. The brand logo, inspired by the Jomon era, is a motif created with a brush containing plenty of ink to express the bold form and power seen in Jomon modeling. The label of Hatsugagenmai features an illustration of brown rice, while the label of Kouji showcases an illustration of an ear of rice.
To bring the Jomon pottery image to life, an octagonal bottle and a spiral steel lid were chosen as part of the design realization technology. The dimensions of the package are 75mmx75mmx90mm.
Consumers have shown great interest in the unique shape of the package, contributing to its sales success. The design project took place from March to October 2018 in Kamashi, Fukuoka prefecture.
The design team members involved in this project include Copywriter Yuji Matsuishi, Creative Director Yuji Matsuishi, and Calligrapher Jusen Matsuishi.
Despite the high cost of the package, the design team overcame this challenge to create a beautiful and unique design that stands out from other products on the sales floor. Continuous research and a commitment to maintaining design quality were key factors in the success of this project.
The copyright for JRP belongs to Hiroyuki Matsuishi, 2018. This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2019. The Iron A' Design Award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.
